Why Use CBD Products

With the rise in popularity of CBD and CBD products, it can be difficult to determine what CBD is, what it can do, and if it’s actually beneficial for you. While CBD has been used for thousands of years as a holistic treatment for many ailments, how can we know if the CBD we are extracting today is the same quality and as effective as what the ancients used?
If you feel completely lost when trying to determine the benefits of CBD products, have no fear. We’ve got your complete guide to all things CBD, including what it actually is, how it’s used in products like skin care, and what benefits you can expect to see after regular usage.

What is CBD

CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol, which is an all natural, plant based extract. CBD is extracted from a particular species of the hemp plant, which of course is famous for producing marijuana. However, it should be noted that the species from which marijuana is taken is a different species than the one that produces high quality CBD. As such, CBD products are not psychoactive, will not get you “high,” or produce any other psychotic effect on the user.
CBD is extracted in oil form and is available for use in three different strengths or forms.
CBD isolate. This type of oil refers to cannabidiol that has been extracted from the plant by itself. This oil contains no other plant parts such as terpenes, flavonoids, fibers, compounds, vitamins, or minerals.
Broad spectrum CBD. This refers to CBD that has been extracted from the plant along with all the other usable plant parts except for THC. THC is the cannabinoid that is psychoactive and is responsible for the “high” a marijuana user experiences.
Full Spectrum CBD. Full spectrum CBD is CBD that has been extracted with all usable plants parts, including a trace amount of THC. The THC content of full spectrum CBD must be under .3%, and as such there is no psychoactive effect produced by using full spectrum CBD oil.
It’s important to understand the benefit of using products that contain full spectrum CBD oil as opposed to CBD isolate or broad spectrum CBD. Full spectrum CBD oil produces what is commonly referred to as the “entourage effect,” which refers to all ingredients of the hemp plant working together to produce maximum health benefits to the user. CBD isolate and broad spectrum CBD cannot produce the entourage effect as they have been extracted from the plant without the remainder of the ingredients.

What Skin Care Products Contain CBD?

While it may seem practically every skincare product on the shelves has the terminology “CBD oil” on the label, some products don’t even benefit from including CBD in the ingredient list, and some don’t actually contain the product at all, or if they do, it is only a trace amount. Here are the skin care products in which CBD is most beneficial.
Cleanser. Because CBD is delivered in oil form, you can benefit from having it in your cleanser take advantage of oil cleansing. Oil cleansing refers to the scientific property of oil that causes it to dissolve other oils. As such, using an oil based cleanser is a great method for cleansing skin that overproduces oil.
Moisturizer. CBD moisturizers are great hydrators and excellent fine line and wrinkle fighters. CBD contains a plethora of powerful antioxidants which aid your skin in fighting off free radicals which cause the early onset of wrinkles and destroy skin’s elasticity. Additionally, CBD is a world-class hydrator, being full of both plant botanicals and vital nutrients your skin needs to keep quenched.
Serums. Serums are like the holy grail of skincare. They typically are applied post-moisturizer and contain a high dosage of restorative ingredients. CBD oil serums are excellent at producing a healthy, smoother, and overall more even skin tone.

Why Use CBD Products?

It’s really simple. CBD is all natural, generally well tolerated, and great for all skin types. Combination, dry, and oily skin types can all benefit from the use of CBD products because of CBD’s ability to regulate moisture levels. CBD has the ability to cleanse and remove oil where it is being overproduced, and hydrate and nourish areas that are dry, bringing your skin back into balance.
CBD is also a great anti-inflammatory. Skin that is red, itchy, irritated, and/or flaky can see less irritation when treated with CBD skin care products; in fact some users of CBD products see immediate results.
CBD can also assist with the fight against premature aging. Skin that has lost its elasticity, is developing fine lines or deep set wrinkles, and has lost its overall tone can benefit from CBD’s rich antioxidant load, and appear smoother, firmer, and more even with regular use.
The decision to use CBD products is a great choice for anyone wishing to treat their skin with all-natural, plant based products that are gentle enough for all skin types, yet effective enough to produce quantifiable results. CBD is well tolerated by most and is beneficial for numerous skin conditions. Full spectrum CBD oil is the best ingredient to look for when searching for a CBD skin care product.
